If any urgent news develops, I'll put it here. Otherwise this is just a placeholder until something comes up.
We are currently appealing the judgment made against us in September 2008. Until the appeal goes through there is not much I can say on the case.
Starting her third year as a college student! She is on a full scholarship - tuition, dorm, food, and a little left over for books. She's in an honors course and in spring 2008 was invited to help a professor work on a veterinary research project. Over summer she volunteered at the animal shelter, giving the cats some play and attention.
New - 07/21/09 On July 16th, Daniel graduated Basic Combat Training
at Fort Benning, Georgia. Now he's at Fort Gordon, Georgia for his Advanced
Training in MOS 25U (communications support). He'll come out of there knowing
more about computer networks than I do. In case there is somebody I forgot
to tell, I'm so proud of my son I have to tell the world.
As an act of defiance Daniel shaved his hair down to a buzz and
joined the Army National Guard in January 2009. The plan is to
enter ROTC so he can pay for his college degree. Then four more
years as an officer in active duty, and maybe a police career after
that. Meanwhile he continues to scare us and our insurance company
by hurling himself over obstacles in pursuit of Parkour.
I got a new job! Sort of... see the Work page
for details.
From July 2005 through December 2008, I was the director of the Wyomingaires.
Our real director passed away in 2004, and the general consensus was that as a
bass I'm expendable (we have too many basses), so I got "blessed" with the role
of directing. At first I was so scared I couldn't even lift my arms in front of
the group and I didn't know how to make the zigzag motions. Eventually I became
less terrified and I know how to do the zigzags, but I never really got the hang
of knowing how fast or slow to do a song (or part of a song), whether a section
is out of tune, etc. When I had to move to Laramie, I told the gang I couldn't
direct. They went out and found themselves a new director, a lady who actually
knows music and can hear when one section is out of tune. I visited a couple of
times when I was able to get to Cheyenne on a Monday, and she's doing a swell job.
